Jun. 18th, 2013 06:49 pm[Character Name] Anthony "Tony" Edward Stark
[Canon] Marvel Cinematic Universe
[Point Taken from Canon] End of Iron Man 3, before solving the Extremis problem
[Age] 40ish
[Gender] Male
[Eye Color] Brown
[Hair Color] Brown (short, with a surprisingly-well-groomed goatee)
[Height/Build] 5'9", slightly stocky
[Visuals] [IMAGES TO COME] A stylishly-rumpled white guy in his early 40s. He's in good shape, though not by comparison to the other men he now hangs around with, and has a very energetic presence. Bright eyes, hands usually in motion, always thinking and always quipping. Sometimes he doesn't really pause for breath.
When he's scienceing, Tony favors tight-fighting athletic gear (whisks moisture and lets him work under hot lights for longerplus it's good under the suit!) or t-shirts and sweatpants, but all of it is still high-quality and very soft. When he's out and about, he pairs very respectable suits with sneakers and sunglasses, just so everyone around him knows he's not taking them that seriously.
[Other] THE ARC REACTOR in the center of his chest, which might be visibly glowing through his shirt, if it's thin enough.
[Personality] [BABBLE TO COME]
[Specialties/Abilities] Genius billionaire playboy philanthropist might ring a bell or two. All of them are important traits. Well, maybe not so much the third one. He's been trying to cut back.
Tony Stark built his first circuit board at age four, and has never stopped since, graduating top of his class from MIT at 17, and eventually earning himself five doctorates. (Definites: Computer Science/Robotics, Engineering/Science, Engineering/Mechanics.) He became an expert in thermonuclear astrophysics overnight, and is somewhat unusual as far as scientists go as a guy who's equally interested in theoretical physics -- the beauty of pure equations -- and applied physics -- the nitty-gritty of a constructed prototype. He actively enjoys building things and taking them apart, whether in his head or literally.
He's also a damn fine hacker in his own right, though judging by the various movies he doesn't usually bother with much in the way of security against hackers*.
* My interpretation, anyway. He can break into SHIELD's systems, even though they obviously have defenses, but SHIELD has been shown more than once to puncture his security in return. This either puts them on equal footing or says that Tony doesn't defend his own systems as well as he attacks other people's.
And I think the latter makes a lot of sense for his character. He puts up boilerplate that's still a million times more secure than Hammer Industries software, but he's... well, a little lazy, and a little overconfident.
[Affection] Hugging would probably catch him seriously off-guard, but he'll roll with it even if he's a little tense. Kissing -- well, you can try, but he's very taken. ♥ He enjoys physical contact in general, though; handshakes, backpats, all of that.
[Fighting] Tony started taking self-defense classes when he was very young, because he was the only child of a billionaire (so, kidnapping) and because was probably the more than occasional target of bullying (being forever and always the youngest, most obnoxious kid in his class), but he didn't really understand the first part of it and deeply resented what he saw as his dad's "REAL MEN STAND THEIR GROUND" stance.
He got back into it after he was taken hostage in the first Iron Man movie, as much for his health as being more capable hand-to-hand.
But, unsurprisingly, Tony is always going to be much more formidable in a suit, or otherwise with technology at his disposal. He's great at improvising and with enough resources he'll probably be able to take care of himself, even if he can't possibly expect to win.
...If you want to punch him in the face, go ahead! :D He's almost always asking for it.
[Other Permissions] There are no words for how unmoved Tony would be to be fourth-walled as a comic book character. I think he might get kind of prickly about being fourth-walled as a movie character, provided it occurred to him what this meant for -- like -- the intimate details of his relationship with Pepper.
But I don't mind :D
